The Executive Governor of Katsina State, His Excellency Dikko Umar Radda, visited the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Thursday 30th January, to engage capital market stakeholders in discussions on financing the state’s economic and infrastructural development.
Welcoming the governor to the NGX trading floor, the Group Chairman of NGX, Alhaji (Dr) Umaru Kwairanga, reaffirmed the Exchange’s commitment to supporting Katsina State’s vision for economic revitalisation.
He described the visit as a significant step towards leveraging market-driven solutions to fund critical projects in the state.
“I consider myself a bona fide indigene of Katsina State, having been raised and mentored by the esteemed Alhaji Dr. Umaru Mutallab. I share the deep love he has for the state, and like many, I felt the pain of Katsina’s challenges during the past decade of insecurity.” Kwairanga said.
He commended Governor Radda’s administration, alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies, for restoring stability in the North West, adding that the focus must now shift to rebuilding the state’s economy.
Kwairanga emphasised that the capital market is well-equipped to support Katsina State’s development goals, offering innovative funding solutions tailored for sustainable growth.
“The Nigerian Exchange and the capital market have seasoned professionals and a deep pool of investors eager to support viable projects. We are ready to work with your administration to create financing strategies that will drive economic transformation in Katsina.” He stated.
Governor Radda’s visit to the NGX included the ceremonial ringing of the closing gong, symbolising Katsina’s engagement with the capital market.
He is expected to outline his administration’s economic agenda and potential investment opportunities for capital market players.
The event, which underscored the crucial role of financial markets in driving subnational development and fostering economic prosperity across Nigeria, was attended by the 14th President of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, Oluropo Dada FCS.
