…Calls on Nigerians to support his nomination for Outstanding Impact Category
As the 8th edition of the Gani Fawehinmi Impact and Integrity Awards (GFIIA) opens its nomination portal to the public, The Multi—Viva Media Concept a parent company to an online news medium, Daily Feeds Nigeria, has thrown its weight behind the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, nominating him for the Outstanding Impact Award category.
The company, in a statement made available to newsmen, described CGC Adeniyi as “one of the most tested and trusted figure of public sector integrity,” citing his leadership track record, commitment to transparency, and transformational impact on the Nigeria Customs Service.
According to the media organisation, CGC Adeniyi has not only made public declarations against corruption but has also taken bold, institutional steps to combat it.
It highlighted, “Among such actions was the inauguration of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) within the Nigeria Customs Service in 2024, and the formalisation of a working partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).”
These measures, according to the company, embedded enduring accountability frameworks within Customs and empowered officers to adhere to ethical standards.
Multi—Viva Media further noted that CGC Adeniyi’s commitment to integrity was evident in his handling of sensitive enforcement cases.
It further recalled how his leadership, when managing the affairs of Murtala Muhammed International Airport Command, recorded major seizures of undeclared foreign currencies, most notably $578,000 and $29,000, which were promptly handed over to the EFCC, with the entire process fully documented and disclosed to the public.
The company also recalled his earlier role in overseeing the seizure of $8.07 million in illicit cash, which he ensured was lawfully handed over to the Federal Government, despite external pressure.
It said, “These are not isolated acts. They reflect a pattern of principled leadership and institutional integrity that has redefined public service in Nigeria.”
In addition to enforcement reforms, the organisation commended CGC Adeniyi’s push for transparency in Customs revenue processes and his insistence on merit-based promotions, both of which have helped the Service achieve record-breaking revenue performances.
His efforts culminated in the national recognition he received on July 6, 2024, when he was awarded the Outstanding Revenue Collection Award at the Nigeria Excellence Award in Public Service (NEAPS) held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The company concluded by urging officers within the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigerian public to support the nomination of CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi by visiting the official nomination portal.
“We call on all Nigerians of conscience and all who believe in transparent governance to join us in this nomination by visiting https://gfa.hedang.org/apply/ before the deadline of August 10, 2025.
