BUK Graduates Over 11,000 Students
Bayero University Kano is set to graduate over 11,000 students in it’s 38th convocation ceremony this week.
Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas made this known in a Media briefing in his office.
He said, out of this number, over six thousand are undergraduate while five thousand postgraduate students.
The convocation ceremony will commence on Tuesday and ends on Saturday with a lecture on the “role of private sector in building a sustainable knowledge economy in Nigeria” to be delivered by Alh Aliko Dangote.
He said” in total we have over 11,000 students, out of this number we have a total of 180 first class students and we have 317 graduate who will receive PhD’s and 3,770 who will receive Masters Degrees in this convocation, and we hope to spend minimum time as you’re all aware we don’t normally spend much time in our convocation”.
Prof Sagir Adamu Abbas added that, during the convocation the University will award two Prominent Nigerians with honorary degrees for their contribution to the society.
Those to be awarded are Deputy President of the Senate Senator Barau I Jibrin and President African Development Bank Dr Akinwumi Adesina.
