Independent Hisbah is Withdrawn and Suspended ~ Dan Agundi
The move to establish an independent Hisbah group in Kano State has been officially withdrawn and suspended.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday, by Alhaji Baffa Babba Dan Agundi.
In the statement, Dan Agundi explained that the decision followed an extensive meeting with key stakeholders drawn from all the 44 local government areas of the state. The meeting was held at the Tinubu Campaign Office on Tuesday.
He said the suspension became necessary in view of the widespread public outcry that trailed the attempt to establish the independent Hisbah group.
He added that critical interventions by stakeholders, particularly the Kano State Government, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the former Executive Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, played a significant role in guiding the process towards ensuring peace and stability in the state.
According to the statement, participants at the meeting unanimously resolved to suspend the establishment of the Independent Hisbah Fisabilillah to allow the Kano State Government to address the issues surrounding the matter amicably.
The statement further noted that the meeting reaffirmed its commitment to respecting constituted authority and resolved to cooperate fully with security agencies in the maintenance of law and order, as well as the safety and security of Kano State and the country at large.
