AMATA Backs Gov. Abba Yusuf, Pledges Support After Political Realignment
The Nigerian Amalgamated Traders/Artisans Welfare Development Association (AMATA) has declared its solidarity with Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, following his recent political defection, describing the move as patriotic and development-driven.
The Chairman of the association, Alhaji Abdul’aziz Dalha Musa, made the declaration during a courtesy visit by AMATA members to the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs.
Dalha Musa said the Governor’s decision demonstrates his commitment to the overall development of Kano State, noting that the administration is currently executing meaningful projects across the state.
He assured that traders and artisans would continue to support the government to ensure the successful implementation of infrastructural projects and the sustenance of peace.
He also appealed to the state government to sustain its support for traders and artisans and to actively involve them in policies and programmes aimed at boosting commercial activities in the state.
In his response, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, described Governor Yusuf’s recent political realignment as a selfless and strategic decision taken in the best interest of Kano State.
Waiya said the Governor’s action reflects his commitment to prioritising the collective interest of the people above personal or sectional considerations. According to him, the move aligns with the administration’s “Kano First” agenda, which emphasises peace, unity and sustainable development.
The Commissioner stated that about 900 projects are currently ongoing across the 44 local government areas of the state, covering key sectors aimed at improving the living standards of residents.
He further disclosed that the Governor has declared the current year as one dedicated to the welfare and well-being of the people, particularly the youth, assuring that traders and artisans would benefit from various economic policies and interventions.
Waiya commended AMATA members for their show of solidarity, adding that the “Kano First” agenda is also designed to strengthen collaboration with the Federal Government in order to attract major developmental projects and investment opportunities to Kano State.
The visit underscores growing support from organised trade groups for the Governor’s recent political decision and his development-focused agenda.
