…as Senior Officers of Course 8 Return from African Study Tour
The Commandant of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs, Al-Bashir Hamisu, has said that the system of NCS has improved to a point where Officers and Men are measured for career growth based on in-depth knowledge and skills acquired in service.
The Assistant Comptroller-General who made this known on Thursday, 25th May, during the inauguration Ceremony of Junior Course 16 at the Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, FCT, also said that the modus operandi of the NCS has improved such that postings and promotion of Officers are done by merit as well as the ability to deal with multi challenges of modern customs.
“While I implore you to pay attention to what brought you here, I want to inform you that the management would henceforth post officers who were exceptional in the training to strategic places to deploy their wealth of knowledge.”
ACG Al-Bashir also cautioned the newly inaugurated students to show decorum and maintain orderliness at the college, adding that “the instructors would not condone mediocrity and indiscipline from them.”
According to him, the Command will be ‘highly’ committed to moulding the officers in character and learning, stressing that “involving in such courses is a rare opportunity that is not given to every Officer, hence must use accordingly to graduate with flying colours”
“This course will prepare you for the burden of leadership required at the professional level. Your ability to succeed in this course depends on your good sense of time management, seeking knowledge, punctuality, self-confidence and above all, self-discipline.”
The Commandant also promised that the College will be committed to exercising fairness to the students in terms of assessment, saying that all they need is to pass the courses.
“Be mindful that the Command will be vigilant about your undertakings and any sort of indiscipline will be dealt with accordingly, thus, I urge you to be diligent.”
The Commandant of the Nigeria Customs Staff College commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd.) CFR and his entire management team for their usual support to the Command, saying that “their impactful intervention was what granted the College multiple achievements ranging from renovations, the building of new hostels, and improvement of staff welfare and power infrastructure.
