The Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Adewale Adeniyi, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art conference room at the Customs Police Unit Zone ‘C’ Command in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Monday, 13 January 2025.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials, including the Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs, Sambo Dangaladima, who represented the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC).
Speaking at the event, ACG Dangaladima lauded the establishment of the new facility, describing it as a remarkable legacy that will benefit officers of the Service.
He commended the efforts of Assistant Comptroller of Customs Funere William-Ebi for her exemplary leadership in spearheading the project, noting that her dedication has resulted in a structure that will stand the test of time.
“This delivery aligns with the vision of the CGC and the Nigeria Customs Service. It is the kind of commitment we seek to see in all officers. I encourage Assistant Comptroller William-Ebi to continue her excellent work.” ACG Dangaladima stated.
He further urged officers to prioritise national interest, support their respective departments and units, and exhibit professionalism in their service delivery.
In her remarks, the Assistant Provost Marshal, Customs Police Unit Zone ‘C’, Assistant Comptroller of Customs Funere William-Ebi, expressed gratitude to the CGC for his visit and the trust reposed on her.
Highlighting the significance of the new conference room, she said, “This facility will enhance the capacity of Customs officers to perform their duties effectively. It provides a dedicated space for meetings, workshops, and study sessions, particularly during promotion examinations. It is a crucial step towards achieving our operational mandates.”
Named in honour of the Provost Marshal and Comptroller of Customs in charge of the Customs Police, Comptroller Sani Yahya, the conference hall is expected to become a hub for lectures, briefings, and other capacity-building activities.
“This structure is a testament to the Service’s commitment to ensuring that officers are well-equipped and knowledgeable in all aspects of their duties,” William-Ebi added.
