The Abuja/Northern District of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) held its 2024 End-of-Year Party at Novare Hall, Abuja, on Wednesday, 4th December 2024.
The event brought together financial professionals to reflect on the district’s achievements, discuss future goals, and promote the importance of health and well-being within the profession.
In his welcome address, the District Chairman, Mr. Sehinde Adenagbe FCS expressed gratitude to members for their dedication despite the prevailing economic challenges.
He highlighted the district’s achievements, including increased membership, advocacy initiatives, and active participation in national CIS events.
Mr. Adenagbe noted the district’s success in attracting members from diverse professional backgrounds, including Senior Advocates of Nigeria, professors, and high-ranking government officials.
He also outlined future priorities, such as acquiring a district secretariat in Abuja, intensifying advocacy efforts in educational institutions, and promoting ethical practices.
He said, “We must embrace the economic realities of our time and ensure resources are channelled towards developing our district, urging members to upskill and upscale their professional practice.”
Delivering a goodwill message, the Group Chairman of NGX Plc, Dr. Umaru Kwairanga FCS lauded the district’s pivotal role as a bridge between the institute and policymakers in the nation’s capital.
He encouraged the district to strengthen relationships with key economic policymakers, such as the Minister of Finance and the Central Bank Governor, who are members of the institute.
Dr. Kwairanga also emphasised the importance of health in professional practice, adding, “Our institute has one of the oldest demographics among professional bodies. While managing our clients’ portfolios, we must also manage our health because health is wealth.”
The celebration concluded with members reflecting on the year’s accomplishments and preparing to tackle challenges in 2025 with renewed plans.
