The National President of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), Mrs Kikelomo Adeniyi, on Friday, inaugurated the newly established COWA Secretariat in Kebbi State and distributed relief materials to orphans and widows of fallen Customs officers.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Nigeria Customs Service Kebbi Area Command Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, was jointly performed by Mrs Adeniyi and the wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu).

The landmark event marked the first major COWA activity in the state since the creation of the Kebbi Area Command in 2019.
Following the commissioning, the COWA National President and the governor’s wife distributed food items and writing materials to dozens of orphans and widows.

The gesture, according to Mrs Adeniyi, was aimed at alleviating hardship and demonstrating the Association’s continued commitment to supporting families of officers as well as vulnerable members of the wider community.

She expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, for his unwavering support in advancing COWA’s mission, and commended the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller CC Nwokorie, for hosting a successful event.
On her part, Hajiya Nafisa Idris welcomed the COWA delegation to Kebbi, pledging her support for programmes that promote the welfare of orphans and widows in line with the state government’s social welfare agenda.

Earlier in his remarks, Comptroller Nwokorie noted that the inauguration was historic, as no COWA activity had been previously held in Kebbi since the Area Command was carved out from Sokoto/Kebbi/Zamfara Command in 2019.
He, however, attributed the milestone to the leadership and encouragement of the Comptroller-General of Customs.

The event was graciously attended by officers’ families, community stakeholders, and members of the Customs community in Kebbi Command.
