Comptroller Kolapo Oladeji, the newly appointed Coordinator in-charge of the Joint Border Patrol Team Section 4 North-West Axis says, he achieved significant milestones within his Zone in just two weeks.
During a press briefing, Comptroller Kolapo outlined the unit’s activities from January 2nd to January 19th, 2024, emphasizing their jurisdiction over all borders with Niger Republic and commitment to ECOWAS border compliance, adding “our strategic approach resulted in substantial seizures of illicit items.”
Upon taking office, Comptroller Kolapo prioritized restructuring operational methodologies, fostering collaboration between the Nigeria Customs Service and Nigeria Immigration Service, leading to the Joint Border Patrol Team’s success.
Interceptions included a trailer with 382 bales of foreign matches, assorted textiles, foreign cigarettes, Snobs, Spaghetti, Mimido, Couscous, and used shoes in Jigawa State. The operation concluded without casualties, marking a significant achievement.
Between January 2nd and January 17th, 2024, the team apprehended 21 foreign nationals attempting to breach border closures, with praise for the Nigeria Immigration Service’s dedication, particularly Deputy Controller BB Alhaji.
Comptroller Kolapo commended sister agencies for their pivotal roles in mitigating smuggling activities, stressing heightened synergy between the Nigeria Customs Service and other security agencies.

Residents were urged to promptly report suspicious activities, with a failure to notify operatives potentially resulting in severe consequences for Nigeria’s economy. The call for vigilance highlighted the community’s integral role in curbing smuggling and ensuring national security.
