…Says No CBT Scheduled for July, Urges Applicants to Rely on Verified Channels
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has distanced itself from a widely circulated press release alleging the commencement of a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for recruitment in July 2025, describing it as fake, misleading, and unauthorised.
This was made known in a statement signed by the National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, Assistant Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, and made available to newsmen on Saturday, 6 July 2025.
According to the statement, the said press release, currently making rounds on social media and other messaging platforms, is riddled with inaccuracies and was not issued by the Service.
“The Nigeria Customs Service wishes to categorically state that the said press release is fraudulent, misleading, and did not emanate from the Nigeria Customs Service. At no time did the Service issue any such announcement regarding a CBT slated to take place in July 2025.” The statement read.
The NCS also pointed out that a closer examination of the fake document revealed glaring errors, including discrepancies in formatting and an incorrect e-signature style, all of which deviated from the standard official format.
“The recruitment timeline mentioned shows a faulty structure that is not connected to any legitimate process.” It added.
Reassuring the public of its commitment to transparency, the Service advised prospective applicants and interested members of the public to disregard the misinformation and avoid acting on unverified reports.
“All authentic information about the ongoing recruitment or any other official activity will be published only on the NCS website, verified social media pages, and recognised national newspapers.” AC Maiwada said.
He further stated that the Service is working to trace the origin of the fraudulent announcement and will take appropriate legal action against those responsible for misleading the public.
While appreciating the vigilance of Nigerians who brought the matter to the attention of the Service, the NCS reiterated its commitment to integrity and professionalism in all its operations.
“The Nigeria Customs Service remains committed to upholding transparency and protecting the public from misinformation. We urge Nigerians to remain calm, ignore false information, and await official updates through our verified channels.” The statement concluded.
