Every Child Must Go to School…
The Federal Ministry of Education has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian child, regardless of disability, gender, or background, has access to quality education. This was emphasized during the recently concluded National Inclusive Education Policy Workshop held in Abuja.
The Honourable Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, described the workshop as a vital milestone in the country’s drive toward inclusive education. Speaking at the event, she stated, “I had the honour of participating in the National Inclusive Education Policy Workshop held at the Federal Ministry of Education. The workshop brought together key stakeholders, development partners, and education professionals.”
According to the Minister, the forum provided an opportunity to discuss practical strategies for creating learning environments that cater to the diverse needs of all learners. “Inclusive education is about transforming how we teach, how we design classrooms, and how we support every learner to thrive,” she said.
Professor Sa’id Ahmad also noted the progress made so far with the revised National Policy on Inclusive Education and its increasing adoption across Nigerian states. However, she acknowledged that more effort is required to bridge the existing gaps.
“There is still much work ahead in building awareness, improving infrastructure, training teachers, and strengthening policy implementation,” she added.
The workshop, attended by a cross-section of education experts, government officials, and development partners, is expected to further guide the implementation of inclusive practices in schools nationwide.
The Federal Ministry of Education reaffirmed its pledge to continue working with all relevant stakeholders to achieve a more inclusive and equitable education system for all Nigerian children.
