FG Presents Presidential Gifts, National Honours to Super Eagles in Morocco

Date:

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Hon. Kabiru Amadu Mai Palace, has disclosed that a Federal Government delegation has presented presidential gifts and National Honours to the Super Eagles in Morocco ahead of Nigeria’s opening match at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Hon. Mai Palace made the disclosure on his personal Facebook handle on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, where he shared photographs showing himself and other members of the national delegation alongside players of the Super Eagles during the engagement.

According to the lawmaker, the delegation was mandated to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and met the national team at their camp in Morocco, where the rewards earlier promised by the President were formally handed over.

He said the gifts, which include houses, monetary rewards and National Honours, were in fulfilment of the pledge made by the President following Nigeria’s second-place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations held in Côte d’Ivoire.

Mai Palace explained that the presentation was aimed at boosting the confidence of the players and encouraging them ahead of the tournament, noting that the timing was deliberate as the team prepares for its first match.

He added that members of the delegation also visited the team’s training ground to assess their level of preparedness and welfare, expressing satisfaction with the facilities and arrangements put in place for the players.

The lawmaker further disclosed that the delegation visited the stadium venue and watched the opening Group-stage match between hosts Morocco and Comoros, which ended 2–0 in favour of the Moroccans.

Nigeria is billed to begin its campaign on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. against Tanzania, before taking on Tunisia and Uganda in subsequent Group-stage fixtures.

Among members of the delegation is the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, who also serves as President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation.

CGC Adeniyi has been a consistent supporter of sports development in the country, promoting sporting activities within the Nigeria Customs Service while also supporting national federations across different sports, including volleyball, through organised competitions and institutional backing.

Other members of the delegation include the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Abdul Ningi; Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Malam Shehu Dikko; President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Musa Gusau; a Special Adviser to the President, Mrs Janet; and the Acting Nigerian Ambassador to Morocco.
