Gov. Abba Kabir Appoints Hafiz Abubakar, Buba Galadima as Heads of Governing Councils of YUMSUK and Kano Poly
In his bid to ensure effective administration of tertiary institutions in the state, Gov. Abba K. Yusuf of Kano State has approved the appointments of new Governing Councils for Yusuf Maitama Sule University (North West University) and Kano state Polytechnic.
In a Press release signed by the Hon. Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs Baba Halilu Dantiye, those appointed are former Deputy Governor Professor Hafiz Abubakar who was also a Deputy Vice Chancellor academics, Bayero University, Kano, BUK as the Pro Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of the University while Hon. Nura Muhammad Dankadai, Hajiya Mariya Ali Kote, Dr. Kabir Muhammad Kofa and Professor Mustapha Hussain are to serve as members.
Other members include the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa and the Deputy Vice Chancellors Academic and Administration as well as four representatives from the University Senate.
Others are representative of the Ministry of Higher Education while the Registrar of the University will serve as the Secretary of the Council.
In the same vein the Governor has also approved the appointment of Alhaji Buba Galadima as the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Kano state Polytechnic.
Those appointed to serve as members are Engr. Rashida Musa, Dr. Usman Abbas, Solicitor General ministry of justice, representative of the ministry of Higher Education, representative of the NBTE and
Professor Dahiru Sani Shu’aibu who will represent Bayero University, Kano, BUK.
Other members include one representative each from School of Management Studies, School of Technology, School of Environmental Studies, School of Continue Education and School of Rural and Community Development, Rano.
All appointments are with immediate effect.
