House Committee on Sports Applauds Pres. BAT for Establishing Nat’l Sports Commission

Date:

The Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Honourable Kabiru Amadu, has expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent decision to dissolve the Ministry of Sports Development and establish the National Sports Commission (NSC) in its place.

On Wednesday, President Tinubu announced that the Ministry of Sports Development would be discontinued, transferring its responsibilities to the NSC, a move intended to strengthen the professional management of the sports sector.

Honourable Amadu, representing the Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency of Zamfara State, praised the decision as a progressive step, aligning with the views of many within the National Assembly. “This is a bold and commendable action by Mr. President to bring back the Sports Commission,” he remarked, noting that the establishment of the NSC has long been a priority for the House Committee on Sports.

According to Amadu, the new structure is expected to drive more effective growth across the sports sector. “Mr. President’s decision reflects the perspective of numerous sports stakeholders, and we hope this marks the start of a new era for Nigerian sports development.”

Highlighting the advantages of a commission-led structure, Amadu stated, “A dedicated Sports Commission opens up opportunities for the right professionals to manage our sports sector, creating a pathway for progress that will yield lasting benefits.”
