Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Honourable Kabiru Amadu, has praised the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for upholding the integrity of African football by awarding all three points to Nigeria in the botched AFCON qualifier against Libya in Benghazi.
CAF’s disciplinary committee penalised the Libyan Football Federation (LFF), granting Nigeria a forfeit win and imposing a $50,000 fine on Libya after finding the LFF in violation of multiple regulations related to the October 15 match.
Honourable Amadu, representing the Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency, commended CAF’s decision, emphasising that it aligns with the principles of fair play.
“CAF has set a strong example for African nations, and this should deter any further incidents of this nature,” he remarked.
