The House of Representatives Committee on Sports has extended its congratulations to Mallam Shehu Dikko following his appointment as the Chairman of the newly reconstituted National Sports Commission (NSC).
This appointment follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s October 23, 2024, decision to dissolve the Ministry of Sports Development and replace it with the NSC. Shortly after this restructuring, Dikko was announced as the head of the new commission.
Honourable Kabiru Amadu, Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, praised the President’s choice, describing it as a positive step aligned with the National Assembly’s vision for Nigerian sports.
“Both the creation of the National Sports Commission and Dikko’s appointment are entirely in line with the Committee’s blueprint, aiming to place qualified technocrats at the helm of Nigerian sports,” Amadu stated.
He further expressed optimism regarding Dikko’s capacity to elevate Nigeria’s sports profile on the global stage.
“Mallam Dikko is a seasoned sports professional whose expertise is well recognised. We are confident in his ability to take Nigerian sports to new heights,” Amadu added.
Representing the Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency, Honourable Amadu also underscored that Dikko’s appointment is a significant call to service.
He urged the new NSC Chairman to leverage his extensive experience to revitalise the sports sector in Nigeria.
