Kano Govt. Commends Tinubu, APC Governors Over N8bn Donation to Singer Market Fire Victims
The Kano State Government has expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for donating a total of N8 billion to support victims of the recent fire outbreak at the popular Singer Market in Kano.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, said the state government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, is profoundly grateful for the intervention.
According to the statement, President Tinubu approved the sum of N5 billion as an intervention fund to assist traders affected by the inferno, describing the gesture as timely and compassionate.
“The magnitude of loss recorded at the market deeply affected us all, and this generous donation will go a long way in cushioning the suffering of the victims and helping them rebuild their businesses,” the commissioner stated.
The Kano State Government also commended APC governors under the aegis of the APC Progressive Governors’ Forum for their collective donation of N3 billion to the victims.
Waiya noted that the solidarity and shared responsibility demonstrated by the governors reflect the spirit of cooperative governance and national unity.
He described the combined N8 billion intervention by the Federal Government and APC governors as a remarkable gesture of empathy and leadership, assuring that the state government would ensure transparency and accountability in the disbursement and utilization of the funds.
The commissioner added that necessary mechanisms would be put in place to guarantee that affected traders resume their business activities as quickly as possible.
He also prayed for divine blessings upon President Tinubu and the APC governors for their generosity and called for protection against future occurrences of such incidents.
