Kano State Government Organizes Two-Day Retreat for Online Journalists
The Kano State Government has promised to continue developing and supporting journalists at all levels.
The Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, stated this while leading the closing ceremony of a two-day retreat organized for online journalists under the auspices of KANO ONLINE MEDIA CHAPEL, who use modern digital media platforms.
The retreat was held in Dutse, Jigawa State.
The Commissioner said that considering how the world has changed, the government deemed it necessary to provide training in the field of online journalism in order to keep pace with modern developments.
“This is a government that focuses on supporting journalistic activities and journalists themselves.
Our belief is that journalists are partners and allies people we can move forward with together,” said Commissioner Waiya.
Comrade Waiya added that the Kano State Government, under the leadership of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, will continue to support journalists in all sectors in order to enhance the dignity of the profession and the image of Kano State.
In his separate remarks during the opening and closing of the retreat, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Online Journalists’ Chapel, Comrade Abubakar Abdulkadir Dangambo, expressed gratitude to the Kano State Government under the leadership of Abba Kabir Yusuf for approving and sponsoring the retreat, which took place in Dutse, Jigawa State.
Comrade Dangambo also thanked the Commissioner for his tireless efforts toward the development of the union, as well as for the valuable advice he consistently offers to promote journalism in Kano.
He assured that positive reportage would be seen in the future.
The Online Chapel awarded both the State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Commissioner Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya to show their appreciation.
The retreat was well attended by senior officials from the Kano and Jigawa State governments, as well as journalists from various parts of Kano State.
