Kano State Govt. Flags Off Registration to Empower Cottage Traders and Street Hawkers

The Kano State Government has reiterated its commitment to revitalizing the local economy by empowering cottage traders and street hawkers with modern entrepreneurial skills and financial support.
The Director-General of the Kano State Cottage Trade and Street Hawking Agency, Abubakar Ahmad Bichi, made this known during the inaugural ceremony marking the commencement of the Cottage Traders and Hawking Community’s registration, held at the agency’s headquarters in Kano.
The event attracted leaders of various trade and business associations across the state, including the Motorcycle Mechanics Association, Pot Builders Union, Cap Makers Association, Carpenters, Bakers, and Caterers, among others.
In his remarks, Bichi emphasized the agency’s determination to promote self-reliance and reduce unemployment by equipping informal traders with essential tools and knowledge to expand their businesses.
He further stated that with this flag up, the registration exercise will reach all nooks and crannies of the state to capture every relevant stakeholder involved in cottage trade and street hawking.
Several association leaders who spoke at the event commended the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for its continued efforts to support small-scale enterprises and strengthen grassroots economic development in the state.
They described the initiative as a significant step toward improving livelihoods and fostering inclusive economic growth across Kano State.
