In its ongoing efforts to combat the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in Kano State, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano State Command conducted a successful operation at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, leading to the arrest of 58 suspects and the recovery of various illicit substances.
The statement, signed by ASN II Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the Public Relations Officer of NDLEA, Kano State Command, on Thursday, 18th January 2024, and made available to Daily Feeds Nigeria, highlighted the agency’s commitment to the recently launched “OPERATION HANA MAYE” aimed at mitigating and curbing drug crimes in the state.
According to ASN II Maigatari, the operation, spearheaded by Kano State Commander Abubakar Idris Ahmad, CN, aligns with the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer’s agenda of creating a drug-free society.
The raid, meticulously planned and executed, involved a team of highly trained officers storming Sani Abacha Stadium, a sports center turned hotspot for drug-related activities. The swift action resulted in the arrest of 58 suspects and the confiscation of various illicit substances.
Kano State Commander Abubakar Idris Ahmad, CN, expressed satisfaction with the operation’s outcome, stating, “OPERATION HANA MAYE is a clear demonstration of our commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and abuse in Kano State. We will not rest until our communities are free from the scourge of illicit substances. This operation is just the beginning, and we will continue to intensify our efforts to ensure a drug-free society.”
The NDLEA Kano State Command, under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd), is dedicated to collaborating with relevant stakeholders, including the Kano State Government, community leaders, and the general public, to achieve its objectives. The agency encourages citizens to provide valuable information to assist in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse, ensuring the utmost confidentiality and protection for informants.
The NDLEA Kano State Command urges the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals involved in drug-related crimes to the nearest NDLEA office or through the agency’s toll-free helpline.
