NIPR Inducts New Members, as Kano Government Sponsor 72 Information Officers
The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has inducted more than 80 Information Officers and public relations officers during a brief ceremony held in Kano.
This is the largest number so far inducted in a single state in the history of the organization.
In his remarks, the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations Dr. Ike Neliaku said, this is the highest set of inductees sponsored by the state government.
He commended the state Commissioner of Information Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Wayya for giving priorities to professionalism by fercilatating the sponsorship.
Delivering an Orientation lecture to the newly inducted members, former Director Press to the Governor of Kano Dr Sule Ya’u Sule highlighted the stages of full membership of NIPR ranging from student membership, graduate membership, associate membership, member and fellowship.
Dr Sule, an Associate Professor of Communication with the Bayero University Kano commended the state government’s effort for sponsoring such large number of government workers which would help add value to their work as government image makers.
Earlier speaking, the state Commissioner for Information and Internal affairs Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Wayya who was also among the newly inducted members, cited the importance of PR in day today communication which prompted this initiation.
He pledge government support in uplifting good Journalism and Communication practice across the state.
72 government personnel, three from Jigawa state and five persons from other organizations were among the inductees.
