The Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun Area Command, has reaffirmed the importance of stronger collaboration among security and public safety agencies following a courtesy visit by the Oyo State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to its operational headquarters.
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen and signed by the Command Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I, Akintola Abdulmalik, on Tuesday, 28 April 2026, for the Acting Customs Area Controller, Oyo/Osun Area Command.
The visit, according to Abiodun, was led by the Oyo State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Corps Commander Kehinde Dahunsi, who was received by the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Wale Adewole, alongside members of the Command’s management team.
Receiving the delegation, Adewole described the visit as a reflection of the cordial working relationship between both agencies and stressed the need for sustained cooperation in advancing national security and public safety.
“This visit is highly appreciated. It further demonstrates the value of collaboration between institutions whose responsibilities directly affect the safety and wellbeing of Nigerians.” He said.
The Acting Customs Area Controller commended the FRSC for its role in promoting safer highways and reducing road crashes across the country.
“The Federal Road Safety Corps continues to play a critical role in protecting lives on our roads. Their contribution to public safety remains invaluable.” Adewole said.
He noted that stronger synergy between Customs and the FRSC would continue to support efficient service delivery and coordinated operations where necessary.
“Our mandates may differ, but they intersect in the broader interest of national development, security and safety. Sustained partnership is therefore essential.” He added.
Earlier, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Dahunsi, thanked the Customs leadership for the warm reception and described the relationship between both agencies as productive and enduring.
He commended the Nigeria Customs Service for its strategic role in protecting the nation’s borders and preventing the entry of prohibited items capable of threatening public health and security.
“The Nigeria Customs Service has continued to play a pivotal role in safeguarding our borders and facilitating legitimate trade. This is critical to the nation’s economic growth and safety.” Dahunsi said.
He assured the Command of the FRSC’s readiness to strengthen collaboration through improved operational synergy and joint capacity-building initiatives.
“We remain committed to supporting the Customs Service through deeper cooperation, enhanced synergy and professional engagements that will improve service delivery.” He said.
