President Tinubu Condoles Shekarau Over Brother’s Death
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condoled with former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, over the death of his brother, Mallam Dahiru Shekarau.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the passing of the retired educationist and administrator as a significant loss not only to the Shekarau family but also to the wider community that benefitted from his lifelong service.
The late Dahiru Shekarau, who died on February 10, 2026, served Kano State in various capacities and retired in 2015 as a permanent secretary. President Tinubu noted that his contributions to the development of people and institutions left a lasting legacy.
The President urged the Shekarau family to honour the memory of the deceased by sustaining his commitment to community service and upholding the values that defined his distinguished career.
He also prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed soul and for divine comfort for the family during this period of mourning.
