We Will Support Governor Abba to Win Re-Election in 2027: Shettima
Thousands of supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) thronged major roads and filled the Sani Abacha Stadium to witness the official reception of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and 22 members of the Kano State House of Assembly who defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), the platform on which they were originally elected.
The event, led by Vice President Kashim Shettima, had in attendance, the APC governors from Kaduna, Sokoto, and Kebbi states, as well as the Deputy Governor of Katsina State, who represented his governor.
In his address, Vice President Shettima warmly welcomed Governor Yusuf into the APC, describing him as a “Governor of the People.”
He assured party supporters that the APC would do everything within its power to ensure Yusuf secures a second term in the 2027 general elections.
Shettima also commended the leadership and political maturity of former Kano State Governor and former APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for uniting party members under one umbrella.
Earlier, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda stated that with Governor Yusuf’s return to the APC fold, Kano State is now firmly under the party’s control.
Other prominent APC figures at the event included Deputy President of the Senate Barau I. Jibril, former Kano Deputy Governor Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, the APC’s 2023 Deputy Governorship candidate Murtala Sule Garo, and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations Abubakar Kabir Bichi, among other party leaders.
The reception ceremony took place at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kofar Mata, Kano, amid widespread celebrations by party loyalists.
